Recreational Skills Program
Click’s Activity Club is all about building new interests and recreational skills. Many individuals with autism have a restricted range of interest, which may also not always be age appropriate. Individuals with other disabilities may similarly have a limited range of interest due to lack of exposure and experience.
Leisure skills are an often overlooked domain for people with disabilities. It should be noted that leisure skills play an important role in reducing boredom and stress at home, and in the community. Challenging behaviours are often reduced when the person is meaningfully engaged in personally satisfying activities.
As people with disabilities may require a more direct approach to teaching leisure skills, in this program, we will take a hands-on approach for our participants to personally experience a wide range of age-appropriate games, toys, media and materials to develop a wider variety of hobbies and leisure skills
Examples of activities are sports, music appreciation, playing card games and board games, lego, puzzles, reading, cooking, gardening, arts and craft.
