Functional Life Skill Program
Learning Wagon is Click’s individualised functional life skills program catered for young adults with disabilities, who have graduated from formal schooling and would still benefit from additional functional skill development.
We believe that learning is a continuous process, and helping young people with special needs achieve independence in daily life is important.
Every participant comes in with their own set of strengths and areas of improvement. At Click, we take a person- centered approach, and for each of our participants at Learning Wagon, we will complete an individualised support plan (similar to an IEP – Individualised Education Plan) in consultation with the primary caregiver(s) and focus our support in these key areas.
In line with our vision to Engage, Empower, and Engage, participants will learn essential functional skills in multiple skill domains, including:
- Functional Literacy – reading, general knowledge acquisition, answering WH questions, writing notes, comprehension etc.
- Functional Numeracy – reading numbers, reading prices, money management, planning budget etc.
- Shopping – follow a shopping list to make purchases at a supermarket, using self-checkout at the supermarket, paying for purchases, checking for change etc.
- Community Participation – gathering belongings before going out, staying with the group during outings, keeping personal belongings safe, participating in social outings, etc.
