Course Description

Don’t be a target online. Learn to identify online scams, verify news sources, and protect your data over four sessions to ensure your online safety and peace of mind.

Learning Objectives

Participants will

  • Identify different types of online scams.
  • Implement specific steps to safeguard their accounts and data, including using strong passwords, enabling 2FA, and employing protective software.
  • Differentiate between credible and non-credible online information and understand the real-world harm caused by fake news.
  • Apply steps to prevent scams and know the correct official channels (e.g., helplines) to use for reporting and seeking advice.
  • Apply safe browsing habits, such as avoiding suspicious links and regularly clearing cache data, to protect their devices and personal information.

Prerequisites

Participants should

  • Possess basic verbal and written language skills
  • Currently uses technological devices such as smart phones, laptop, tablets etc to communicate with others independently 
  • Able to participate in small group learning
  • Able to attend to powerpoint presentations

Fees and Subsidies

Nett course fee (after subsidy*): $14 per participant
Full course fee: $280 per participant

*Subject to eligibility criteria

Balance fees may be paid using SkillsFuture Credits or Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA)

Additional Information to Note

SG Enable Training Grant:

  • Applicable for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents aged 16 years and above
  • Not pursuing full-time education or enrolled in any government or special education school
  • Course fee funding is only available for eligible persons with disabilities
  • The disabilities supported by the grant are: physical disability, sensory disability, intellectual disability and autism. 
  • Participant must be registered with SG Enable as a person with disability.
